The Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) at The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted The Vision Motors - USP Youth Leadership Forum 2017 at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre on 29 September 2017. Dr Akanisi Kedrayate, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education, in opening the forum, stressed on the evolving nature of leadership styles. The University of the South Pacific (USP) is currently collaborating with USA’s Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) for their research projects in the Pacific. Mr Ruben Markward, Emalus Campus Manager, recently welcomed the team to Emalus and expressed his support for their research activities. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Confucius Institute (CI) celebrated its 5th anniversary and the launch of the CI-USP Association at the Laucala Campus on 12 October, 2017. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will allow The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus and the Vanuatu Cultural Centre (VCC) to share research information was signed on 9 October, 2017 at the Emalus Campus. Under the MoU, research information will be disseminated between the parties, joint research activities like seminars/workshops will be organised and VCC will prioritise USP’s students and staff in their research projects carried out in the country. The Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Rajesh Chandra held the second Student Forum for 2017 at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre, Laucala Campus on 6 October. Microsoft Initiative at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) under the School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences organised the inaugural Appathon event on 30 September 2017.
